What are the differences between the 3 types of mesh?
Well, there are three main differences between perforated sheet, expanded metal mesh and welded wire mesh and they are-
· The way they are manufactured
Perforated sheet is made from a steel sheet that is fed through a machine which punches holes or any other designs through the sheet. Whereas, an expanded metal mesh is created by making multiple slits in the sheet after which the sheet is stretched and on the other hand, a welded wire mesh is created using different kinds of metals which are woven together like clothes on a right angle.
· Their characteristics
Perforated sheets are available in many different types and sizes, give stability and also add a decorative touch. Whereas, an expanded metal mesh has strong structural integrity as it has not had any holes punched into it and thus it has not undergone any stress and on the other hand, a welded wire mesh is very versatile, can be adopted in more or less any situation and can also be cleaned easily.
· Their end uses
The typical end uses of perforated sheets include being made into screens, trash cans, baskets, filters etc. Whereas for expanded metal mesh, it can be used for fences, construction rigging, security applications, wash stations etc and on the other hand, welded wire mesh can be used for transportation, agricultural, poultry etc needs.
Now that you have seen the basic differences between the perforated sheet, expanded metal mesh and welded wire mesh, you can make a decision as to what you want go for depending on your needs.
